'An upgrade' - Blackburn Rovers supporters delighted at Callum Brittain signing

Blackburn Rovers supporters are encouraged by the club's first signing of the summer in Callum Brittain from Barnsley.

The defender has signed permanently for the Ewood Park outfit and becomes Jon Dahl Tomasson's first addition to the Rovers squad this summer. Brittain has penned a contract until 2026 with his new club after three years at Oakwell, and fills a vacancy in the squad left by Ryan Nyambe.

Wigan Athletic have snapped up the ex-Rovers defender and Blackburn moved quickly to bring Brittain through the door. He will bring versatility, energy and athleticism down the right flank.

Here are the views of 's fan panel, on the new Rovers man.

: "I don’t really know a lot about Brittain but was really impressed with him when he came to Ewood back in December. Fourth most successful dribbles last season across the Prem/Championship sets him in good stead. A RB was a big priority in my view. Hopefully the start of a domino effect and more start rolling in soon!"

: "Brittain sounds like a round peg for a round hole in terms of what we need at the minute. Nyambe obviously had his strengths and limitations but Brittain seems to be the step up we need in terms of how JDT will likely want his wing-backs to operate.

"I'm not too worried about his last season at Barnsley as it sounded like the whole team fell apart after Ismael left. I remember him playing well against us and Mowbray commentating how good a player he looked so I'm not surprised we had him high up our shortlist. Decent fee and a long-term contract as well so I'm happy."

: "Really pleased with the signing, as much as loved Nyambe. I feel this is an upgrade and it’s really encouraging bit of business from the club. He’ll offer us a really good attacking dynamic
