Blackburn Rovers fans told what to expect from Tyler Morton as Liverpool plan outlined

After a long chase, Blackburn Rovers officially unveiled Tyler Morton as their second summer signing.

The 19-year-old arrives on a season-long loan from Liverpool and will compete alongside John Buckley and Lewis Travis in central midfield. Morton offers more depth in the midfield for Jon Dahl Tomasson without blocking the development path of Jake Garrett or Adam Wharton.

Morton has Champions League and Premier League appearances under his belt and has been highly praised by Jurgen Klopp. A loan move to the Championship was seen as the next logical step in his young career.

So, what can Blackburn Rovers expect from Morton? spoke to the Liverpool Echo's Chief Liverpool Writer for the inside track.

Surprised? Not really. Morton made his first-team breakthrough at Liverpool last autumn, but that the Reds ended up going for all four trophies and have plenty of numbers - when available - in midfield means there isn't much chance for Morton to continue his development. He quickly outgrew the under-18 and U23 - now U21, of course - teams, so going to a decent Championship side seems the next logical step. So he should fit in quite well - although that depends what exactly Blackburn want.

He was employed as a deeper midfielder by Klopp initially - and found it tough going there in his first Premier League start at Tottenham Hotspur last December - but his best position is more as a box-to-box midfielder with the freedom to push on forward. His most obvious strength is his passing, and while he doesn't mind putting the tackles in he still needs to work on his physique. Another quality in his game is his shooting from range - bit Steven Gerrardesque in that respect when he gets it right.
