An 80s classic is making a major comeback with Gen Z

A 1980s classic is making a comeback with young Brits, a survey has revealed.

New research shows six in ten 16 to 34 year-olds are using their conservatory more now than this time last year - double the number of over 55s.

And any notion that the glass-walled favourites are old-fashioned has been put firmly to bed, with 61 per cent of young people saying they disagreed.

Young Brits want to transform them into bars, gyms and even bedrooms, a survey of 2,000 people with conservatories revealed.

But it’s not just 16 to 34-year-olds looking to get the most out of these light-filled spaces, the study by Radcliffe-based Conservatory Insulations showed.

Half of Brits say they’re using their conservatories more - but the same number admit the fluctuating temperatures can put them off and 41 per cent want to insulate.

Matt Forrest, Managing Director of Conservatory Insulations, said: “Some of us might have grown up with the idea that conservatories are dated - but these figures make it clear that these glass acts are having a major comeback.

“With a cost of living crisis on, we’re all looking to get the most out of the space we have, and it’s exciting to see young people looking to breathe new life into their existing conservatories.

“We’re here to give you back the room you thought you were getting in the first place that you can enjoy all-year round instead of being locked out because it’s too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.
