Major Newport centre road shut in both directions - live updates

A road in Newport city centre has been closed in both directions. Gwent Police has confirmed that they are at the scene of an incident in Clarence Place.

They have warned motorists to avoid the area if possible and find an alternative route for their journey. In a post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, the police force said: "Clarence Place, Newport is currently closed in both directions. Please avoid the area if possible and find alternative routes for your journey. Thank you."
