Harry Maguire fires five-word Willy Kambwala message after Man United display vs Liverpool

Harry Maguire has heaped praise on Manchester United youngster Willy Kambwala after his performance against Liverpool.

The 19-year-old was handed his second Premier League start by Erik ten Hag on Sunday, with United short of senior centre-backs. Kambwala partnered Maguire in defence and faced an immediate barrage of attacks from Liverpool, who attempted 15 shots during the first half.

Bruno Fernandes helped United claw their way back into the game while Kobbie Mainoo’s spectacular finish gave the team a surprise lead before a late Liverpool equaliser. After the final whistle, Maguire took to social media to single out his latest centre-back partner.

The England international posted a picture of him speaking to Kambwala on his Instagram story with the caption: “This man was magnificent today.” The teenager had his own message for United supporters after making his first start at Old Trafford.

“Proud to have made my first Premier League start at Home,” Kambwal said on Instagram. “Disappointed not to have taken the 3 points but what a fight. Thank you for your incredible support Old Trafford. With God everything is possible.”

Kabwala notably received praise from Ten Hag for an impressive recovery tackle on Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez during the first half. The United boss has admitted that the defender has a chance to earn an extended run in the team with several centre-backs remaining on the sidelines.
