Popular gin bar in Greater Manchester with the ‘best atmosphere’ to close after five years

A popular gin bar in Oldham has announced it will be closing down at the weekend.

Gin Gin Bar on Milnrow Road in Shaw was described as the ward’s ‘premiere gin bars’ with more than 100 different gins for people to choose from. The bar had just recently celebrated its fifth anniversary having first opened back in March 2019.

In a post on social media, bosses behind the two-storey bar, which has also become renowned for its karaoke lounge, said the decision to close had been made ‘with a heavy heart’ and that its last day of operation will be this Saturday (April 13).

The statement read: “It's with a heavy heart, we are sad to announce that Gin Gin will be closing as a bar on Saturday 13th April. We will be available for Private Functions & Bookings.”

The venue, just a short walk from the Shaw Metrolink stop, has now been listed for sale online where it has been described as a ‘quality, modern, and well appointed bar’. The sale, through Breakey & Nuttall, will include ‘all current fixtures and fittings’ - meaning it is hoped it will continue to be operated as a bar in the future.

In response to the news of the closure, loyal customers of the bar posted on social media to wish the bar’s owner, Marytn Finnagan, the best whilst recalling some of their favourite memories from visiting the venue.

One person wrote: “This makes me sad. One of the really nice places to socialise.” Another said: “This is sad news, going to miss it! Thank you so much for all the wonderful memories, I'm gutted to see you go.”

Another wrote: “I'm really sad to see you close. I love gingin, it's so popular and I've had so many happy nights there (like tonight)
