Ally McCoist pre Rangers throwback has TV studio in hysterics as Ibrox hero stitched up with 'then and now' snap

Ally McCoist had pundits in stitches when he was presented with a hilarious throwback snap during Everton 's FA Cup clash with Boreham Wood.

The Rangers hero was on commentary duty for ITV alongside Jon Champion but didn't get his usual 15 minute break from duty when the final whistle went.

To his surprise the half-time punditry team cut to him after showing a clip of an FA Cup tie from 1982 that featuring a fresh-faced McCoist running out for Sunderland against Liverpool.

They then showed McCoist in the gantry side by side with a snap of him 40 years ago and pundit Ian Wright could barely contain himself.

He lost it altogether when McCoist quipped: "Back in the good old days when stripes suited me, eh Wrighty?"

Sunderland lost 3-0 in the tie in question and McCoist was quick to explain that one.

He added: "They had some quality back in the day there. If you think Liverpool have got a good team now, they had Dalglish, Sounness, Hansen...some team."

McCoist only managed nine goals in 65 appearances for Sunderland before he rebuilt his career at Ibrox in 1983.
