Kell Brook doubts Amir Khan wants a rematch

Kell Brook has raised doubts over Amir Khan’s desire for a rematch because of the ‘one-sided’ beating the Bolton boxer suffered in Manchester last month on February 19.

BOXXER promoter Ben Shalom claimed after the fight that Khan had ‘underestimated‘ Brook as he insisted he didn’t give himself enough time to prepare for the biggest fight of his career.

Khan, 35, flew out to the United States in November to start his training camp with Terence Crawford‘s coach Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado Springs.

And he returned home just over a week before that famous night at the Manchester Arena.

But despite the rumblings out of Khan’s camp, Brook doubts whether his rival will commit to another bout.

He told Sky Sports: “It’s all still so new. Let me have my moment.

“Amir, in the contract, he can have the rematch. Let’s wait and see.

“It was so one-sided would anyone want to see the rematch?

“If Khan wants to do it again, we can do it again.

“I have to wait and see.

“I’m big news now!

“My mojo is back. I do want to fight on but I still haven’t had that talk with the family.

“He took big shots and didn’t run off after the fight. He was humble. The respect is there.”

Shalom, meanwhile, also confirmed that there are plenty of options on the table, including Conor Benn, 25, Chris Eubank Jr, 32, and Keith Thurman, 33.

He added: “Kell’s enjoying himself, he’s had a magnificent victory.

“That was a fight he waited for for many, many years and he finally got it, and seemed to roll back the clock and was able to step in there and put in a performance nobody could quite believe – and that’s obviously leading to questions as to whether he can continue.
