Ally McCoist and Olly Murs pull back curtain on what REALLY happened in on-pitch bust up

Olly Murs says his on-pitch "spat" with Ally McCoist was STAGED - as they tried to recreate the Rangers hero's famous clash with Neil Lennon for a laugh.

Murs and McCoist were in opposite dugouts for the talkSPORT Trophy as an all-stars team coached by Murs and Alan Pardew took on McCoist's Breakfast team. In the end, it was McCoist's troops who won 18-17, with Murs subbing himself on to MISS a decisive penalty.

After the game, there was a seemingly tense moment between Murs and McCoist, who got in each others faces and had to be separated by the referee. The scenes were notably reminiscent of McCoist's infamous touchline spat with Celtic opposite number Lennon after an ill-tempeted Scottish Cup replay back in 2011. But speaking on McCoist's show this morning, Murs revealed it was entirely manufactured to look like that.

He said: "I've had texts from mates asking what happened with Ally! We thought we'd have a bit of fun at the end and re-enact the Lennon-McCoist touchline moment. It was such a great afternoon, a really great day being among all you pros. It's just a shame everyone seemed to think you and I had a spat."

And McCoist responded: "Absolutely mate. It was a great day, we all enjoyed ourselves," adding: "Maybe it was just our incredible acting that fooled everyone!"
