Alex Lowry names small Hearts details making 'a hell of a difference' with derby bragging rights on the agenda

Alex Lowry has had an Old Firm cameo but now he wants a starring role in the Edinburgh derby.

The on-loan playmaker has certainly staked his claim with match-winning contributions, off the bench, in the last two games. Lowry netted the winner against Kilmarnock to fire Hearts into the Viaplay Cup semi-finals and then he supplied the pass for Alan Forrest’s strike at Ross County. He has previously come off the bench for Rangers in their 3-0 win over Celtic at the end of last season and would love the chance to shine against Hibs at Tynecastle on Saturday.

Lowry said: “The last 10-ish minutes I got in that (Old Firm) and it was a pleasure to play in that but I am hoping to make more of an impact in the one at the weekend. Yeah, looking forward to it. It's my first Edinburgh derby. The boys will focus this week on training and we will hopefully do our job at the weekend. We've been focusing on one game at a time and trying to pick up results in all the games we've been playing.

“We'll debrief that game and the focus will be on Hibs. I'm really looking forward to it. Goggsy (Gordon Paterson) the kitman always tells me about it. You always want to win the derby and get the bragging rights in the city. Our heads are fully on that.”

The 20-year-old has been pleased with the impact he has made and hopes it will convince Stevie Naismith to start him this weekend. He proudly stated: “Yeah, a goal and an assist. Should have had another goal on Saturday.

"As long as I can contribute to the team I am happy. I am just delighted overall we got the three points today and can focus on a big game at the weekend.

"I want to be starting games so making an impact is the best way I can get myself back in the team. Thoroughly enjoyed the game
