Gillingham defender Cheye Alexander reportedly named in St Lucia squad for weekend matches against Guadeloupe in the Concacaf Nations League
Gillingham defender Cheye Alexander has received an international call-up.
The 28-year-old right-back has been named in the Saint Lucia squad, according to reports.
A newcomer to the Caribbean national side, Alexander’s previous international experience came with an appearance in the England C side.
The former West Ham youth player has enjoyed plenty of football since his switch to Priestfield from Wimbledon, closing in on his 50th league appearance for the Gills.
St Lucia are due to play a Concacaf Nations League game on Friday against Guadeloupe before then playing the same side away from home on Sunday.
Gillingham have yet to confirm the call-up which would rule him out of the weekend game against Walsall. The defender wasn’t in the squad for the midweek EFL Trophy match at Portsmouth.
The Gills have a number of injured players at present and Scott Malone will also miss the Walsall game through suspension after accumulating five bookings.
