Alex Iwobi gives verdict on battle with Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana

Alex Iwobi believes he was able to deceive Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana when scoring Fulham's match-winning goal on Saturday afternoon.

United equalised in the 89th minute against Fulham through Harry Maguire and Old Trafford exploded into life, urging the players to get forward and complete the comeback.

However, committing too many bodies forward backfired and Fulham scored at the other end on the counter-attack. Adama Traore found Iwobi and the forward took a touch before finding the bottom left corner, with Onana left standing flatfooted between the sticks.

Iwobi missed a few chances in the first half of the game but he was able to make amends. He was asked by Premier League Productions whether he targeted Onana at the front post for his goal and said: "I feel like I knew I could see where he was when I took my first touch.

"I knew he might have thought I was going to wrap it into the far post, but I slotted it near post and he didn't see it coming. We just knew we had to be brave, trust in ourselves and our ability.

"We were able to hurt them and create so many opportunities. It was all about taking them and luckily I took mine at the end.

"When you have a player like him [Traore], you just have to feed him the ball and he takes you up the pitch. It was bound to happen we would be able to create a chance and get a goal. He's a great player to have, especially with the impact he has coming on."

United have conceded 435 shots in the Premier League this season and Sheffield United, who sit at the bottom of the league table, have conceded more.
