Disney+ fans who ‘missed important update’ stunned after checking bank account

Disney+ subscribers have expressed their outrage after “missing” an ‘important update’ which saw a huge rise in price to the platform’s annual subscription. Customers have called the latest price hike “ridiculous” with many now cancelling their subscriptions.

In case you missed it - which it seems many consumers have - Disney+ announced last year that on November 1, 2023, it would be changing its subscription rates.

For monthly subscribers, this means monthly costs will rise from £7.99 a month (£95.88 over 12 months) to £10.99 a month (£131.88 over 12 months) - a £36 a year increase.

For those forking out for the annual subscription, the major shake-up saw the annual upfront payment jump from £79.90 to £109.90 – a £30 a year rise.

It seems many have missed this memo, with thousands reacting to a recent post calling out the streaming service on social media platform, X.

Sharing screenshots showing the huge payment differences over the years alongside an email notifying X user @mellyfratelli her Disney+ annual subscription will increase from March 30, Melly said: “Goodbye Disney+, you must be crazy x.”

The tweet has since garnered 4.2 million views, 60,000 likes, 3,300 shares and hundreds of comments from angry Disney+ subscribers sharing their outrage.

@YippeKiYay said: “Cancelled mine last week. I'll only now pay for the odd month here and there if I want to watch something specific.”

@TempelmanRobin said: “Holy hell thanks for flagging this up - hardly watch ours so not worth nearly £10 per month. Bye bye!”
