Alex Baptiste & Matt Gilks Bolton Wanderers future decisions outlined in player contract talks

Ian Evatt believes Alex Baptiste has 'far too much' to offer football to walk away from the game as he plans talks with the veteran and every other Bolton Wanderers players today.

The veteran central defender is one of seven players out of contract at Wanderers this summer and Evatt will speak with every single member of his squad today to discuss this season.

That includes those with deals for next season and beyond, and also those out of contract shortly and if their time at the club will come to an end or not.

Baptiste, Andrew Tutte, Nathan Delfouneso, Liam Edwards, Liam Gordon, Adam Senior and Reiss Greenidge all have deals which expire this summer.

Baptiste, in his second spell at Wanderers, came off the bench late on in the 4-2 win over Fleetwood Town as he replaced George Thomason who came down with cramp.

Bolton boss Evatt insists the change had nothing to do with any sentiment and if this was the final game of his second spell at Wanderers.

But Evatt believes his old Blackpool team mate has far too much to offer the sport than to hang up his boots and potentially walk away from it and believes he has a lot to give moving forwards.

Evatt said: “We have all been focussed on the job and making sure we finish strongly.

“I will speak with every player on Monday – but I think he has far too much to offer this sport to walk away from it. We will see what discussions take place and what happens, but as a person his knowledge and his personality is excellent so he has a lot to offer this sport, going forwards.
