Alan Shearer tells Gary Lineker 'how it is' after Man United question during FA Cup clash
Alan Shearer was quick to defend his career choices live on the BBC after Gary Lineker questioned him about why he never joined Manchester United.
During the delayed kick-off of Blackburn vs Newcastle in the fifth round of the FA Cup, Lineker asked Shearer about his past decisions, to which the former striker firmly stood his ground. Shearer had a chance to move from Blackburn to United after having discussions with Ferguson. However, Keegan persuaded him to choose Newcastle, resulting in a £15million transfer. In 'In A Will to Win', his diary of the 1996/97 season, Ferguson admitted he felt "'sick and angry" about not getting Shearer, who had netted an impressive 112 goals in 138 Premier League matches for Blackburn.
