Alan Shearer makes Premier League title prediction after Man City's draw with Nottingham Forest

Alan Shearer has backed Arsenal to win the Premier League title ahead of rivals Manchester City this season after the Blues dropped points away at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola's side drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, with the home side scoring late to steal a point after Bernardo Silva had given City the lead in the 41st minute. It came as a major blow to the reigning champions, especially with the Gunners coming from behind to win earlier in the day.

Mikel Arteta's men - who now sit two points ahead of the Blues with a game in hand - returned to winning ways with a 4-2 victory over Aston Villa. The London outfit had lost to City in midweek, but Arsenal responded well and secured an important three points in the West Midlands.

With the Gunners now back at the top of the table, former Newcastle United striker Shearer has tipped Arteta's side to go on and win the title - but only if they keep their star players fit.

Asked for his prediction on the Premier League title race, Shearer said on BBC's Match of the Day: "I know Thomas Partey is out injured at the moment, but if Arsenal can get him back and then have a little bit of luck between now and the end of the season with keeping their key players fit, I think they will do it, I really do.

"Based on the second-half, Arsenal deserved the three points today. But they didn’t just get the win, they sent a message out to Manchester City too. Sometimes you just need to find a way to win and they did that in the second-half.
