Alan Brazil derails Ally McCoist with Rangers ref dig as Ibrox hero left stewing live on radio

Ally McCoist reckons there's much more to the Scottish Premiership title race than the two derbies to come between Rangers and Celtic.

But the Ibrox hero's title assessment barely saw the light of day on talkSPORT before Alan Brazil derailed it with a cheeky referee windup. Celtic-daft Brazil and Rangers hero McCoist teamed up for their usual midweek morning show on Wednesday and after a weekend that saw both Glasgow giants lose league games for the first time in six years, the chat came around to the fascinating Premiership title race before too long.

Philippe Clement's team still hold a two-point advantage after their slip-up against Motherwell wasn't punished by Celtic, who went down 2-0 at Tynecastle just 24 hours later. But with the two still to face one another twice in the league, at Ibrox on April 7 and once after the split, it could all come down to who gets the better head to head in the remaining derbies.

McCoist though wasn't quite having that. When asked if the fate of the trophy hinges on that showdown next month, he said: "It will go a lot further than that! I'm telling you right now, I don't think you can put your hand on your heart and be convinced about Celtic and Rangers winning all their other games. There's four games to come before the split which will be important, then the split will be even more important.

"They're already talking about Rangers having to go to Kilmarnock, again. Again, Alan! So no matter what happens we'll all be moaning about something, whether it's Rangers fans or Celtic fans.
