Air ambulance lands as man rushed to hospital with burn injuries after being rescued from flat fire
An air ambulance landed near Manchester city centre as a man was rushed to hospital with burn injuries after being rescued from a flat fire.
Fire crews and paramedics raced to the scene on Lamport Close after receiving multiple reports of a fire in the bedroom of a first floor apartment on Monday (April 3).
There was a huge emergency services response called out to the scene at around 1.30pm, including rapid response vehicles, fire crews and an air ambulance that also landed on a grassed area off nearby Grosvenor Street.

A man in his early 50s was rescued from the blaze before being rushed to hospital in a road ambulance with burn injuries. The nature of his condition or how the fire started have not yet been confirmed.
A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to the incident at 13:33 and attended with our hazardous area response team, air ambulance, advanced paramedic, rapid response vehicle, on-scene commander and an ambulance. A man in his early 50s was taken to hospital with burn injuries."
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At 1.30pm this afternoon (Monday 3 April) we received the first of several reports about a fire at a block of flats on Lamport Close, Manchester, involving the bedroom of a first floor flat.
“Five fire engines and an aerial platform from across Greater Manchester were quickly mobilised to the scene, where firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel and positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the flames and clear smoke from the building.
