Adam Pope shares potentially worrying Leeds injury update on Raphinha before Man City – report
Leeds United correspondent Adam Pope has dropped an update on the injury concern regarding winger Raphinha ahead of the clash with Manchester City this weekend.
Raphinha could well be on the move this summer, even if the Whites remain in the Premier League. There is apparently a €25m relegation release clause in the 25-year-old’s deal but no release clause if Leeds stay in the top flight.
The Leeds star’s representatives have been in advanced talks with Barcelona ahead of a summer move, with discussions with Whites chiefs over a possible fee likely to take place at the end of the season.
Therefore, he could have just five more games in a Leeds shirt, but he was spotted with a possible injury scare last time out.
Pope took to Twitter on Monday evening following the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
He spotted Raphinha ‘holding his hamstring at the end’ of the game, however, the Brazilian was thought to be ‘fine’.
We will now have to wait anxiously until Jesse Marsch’s pre-Man City press conference to find out if the issue is anything serious.
Marsch stated after the game that Raphinha was fine, but you’d expect he wouldn’t have been checked over thoroughly in the short turnaround of the full-time whistle and the manager’s post-match press conference.
Leeds’ medical staff would have had a better understanding of any possible problem back at Thorp Arch following the game, making his hamstring clutch late on Monday a potential concern.
Hopefully, Raphinha will indeed be fully fit for the clash with Pep Guardiola’s side on Saturday evening, but we’ll have to wait and see what Marsch has to say in his press conference later this week.
