The summer transfer window is fast approaching and clubs up and down the country will be continuing their preparations for the 2022/23 season.

Top of the agenda for Leicester City, however, is at least another central midfielder. The Foxes are short of options in this area with Youri Tielemans, James Maddison, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Papa Mendy and Wilfred Ndidi the only senior players capable of playing there.

Asked if midfield is an area he hopes to strengthen this summer, Rodgers said: “100 per cent. My teams normally have more midfield players because of the nature of how we work to dominate that part of the field. We need that.

“There’s been too big a burden on some of our players this year. Other players have maybe not stepped up and given us the quality we need, so some of the guys have had to continually play. For sure, that’s an area I would say we need at least two.”
