2 in, 2 out: 4 realistic Portsmouth FC transfer dealings we can see happening this summer

With eight games remaining in their League One season, it looks like Portsmouth may very well have too much to do when it comes to reaching the play-off places.

It isn’t an insurmountable task for Pompey whatsoever, but they’d have to drop not so many points between now and the end of the campaign to force their way into the top six.

In the next few weeks their fate may be confirmed and then Danny Cowley will have to work on his squad all over again when it comes to building one good enough to challenge for promotion back to the Championship.

Let’s look at two transfer dealings – both incoming and outgoing – that we can see happening at Fratton Park this summer.

IN: Jamie Lindsay

Lindsay is a player that Pompey reportedly tried to get their hands on in the January transfer window, but their initial bid was knocked back by league rivals Rotherham United.

According to The News though, Cowley looks set to reignite that interest this summer in attempt to bolster his midfield for the 2021-22 campaign.

The ex-Celtic academy graduate has featured 22 times for the Millers in the league this season but a lot of those recent outings have come from the bench.

The 26-year-old may fancy a move to a club with a better chance of playing more frequently, and whilst his contract at the New York Stadium expires this summer, Rotherham do hold an option to extend it by a year, so Pompey may still have to pay a fee for the Scot.

OUT: Marcus Harness

Despite Championship clubs being interested in his signature in January, Harness remained a Pompey player until at least the end of the season – but that’s perhaps where his journey at Fratton Park could end.
