14 transfer deals that could define new era at Leicester City
Five transfer windows have passed since Leicester City prepared for life under a new head of recruitment and this summer is the first window since Lee Congerton departed to take over as sporting director at Italian side Atalanta.
Congerton, formerly of Sunderland and Celtic, joined the club three months after Brendan Rodgers' appointment at the King Power Stadium and brought 13 players to the club during his reign in the Midlands. From important members of Rodgers' squad such as James Justin, Youri Tielemans, Wesley Fofana and Timothy Castgane, to strugglers such as Cengiz Under, Ryan Bennett, Ryan Bertrand and Ayoze Perez.
Hoping for similar deals such as Fofana with Congerton and Riyad Mahrez with Steve Walsh, Martyn Glover is set leave Premier League rivals Southampton to take the reins as head of senior recruitment at City, though no confirmation has been announced. The former PE teacher joined the Saints from Everton in 2019 as their head of scouting and recruitment. However, Glover was forced to work within a sell-to-buy model at St Mary's.
As reported previously, Glover will remain at Southampton throughout the summer after rejecting the Foxes' pursuit of pushing the deal through ahead of this transfer window. It's unclear how much say Glover will have in the recruitment process this window or when his period of notice expires at the Saints.
