The Mohammed Rizwan-led Pakistan has been fined five per cent of their match fee for slow over-rate during the second ODI against New Zealand in Hamilton on Wednesday. Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after the visiting side was found to be one over short of the target after the time allowances were taken into consideration. As per Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which governs minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fees for each over their team falls short of bowling in the stipulated time.

Pakistan have been fined 10 percent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate in the first One-day International against New Zealand at Napier on Saturday. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday included Allahudien Paleker of South Africa and England's Alex Wharf in the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires which features Nitin Menon as the only Indian, while Jayaraman Madangopal has been promoted to the Emerging Panel. Michael Gough and Joel Wilson will make way for the two new entrants in Palekar and Wharf. According to BCCI sources, the 50-year-old Madangopal has been promoted to the Emerging Panel which makes him eligible to officiate in overseas Tests and ODIs. Former Tamil Nadu player Madangopal has so far officiated in one Test, 22 ODIs and 42 T20Is.

New Zealand's Chris Gaffaney and England's Richard Illingworth have been named as on-field umpires for the first 2025 Champions Trophy semifinal between India and Australia in Dubai, said the International Cricket Council (ICC). For Tuesday's semifinal at the Dubai International Stadium, Michael Gough will serve as third umpire, while Andy Pycroft will take up the match referee's duties. Illingworth continues in Dubai, having overseen India's Group A clash with New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday. Gaffaney, on the other hand, had been due to umpire Australia's meeting with South Africa in Group B before it was abandoned due to rain in Rawalpindi.

A physical altercation between India's Virat Kohli and Australia's teenager Sam Konstas turned out to be the most discussed topic on Day 1 of the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The brief showdown took place after the 10th over of the Australian innings on the opening day of the Boxing Day Test when the players were crossing over. Kohli and Konstas bumped shoulders while moving across the pitch in the face-off that was initiated by the travelling star. Former India batter Sunil Gavaskar has criticised Kohli for his act.
