A local journalist has accused the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of financial mismanagement during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The journalist, Shahid Hashmi, didn't mince his words while criticising the board for the mess it created during the recently-concluded event. Hashmi also made a shocking revelation, claiming that a pitch curator sold his motorbike to arrange fertilisers for the maintenance of the pitch in Rawalpindi, one of three venues in Pakistan, as the PCB refused to co-operate. The allegations made by Hashmi come at a time when PCB is already going through a turmoil, following the national team's poor outing in the tournament as well as the recent bilateral events.

The BCCI announced a cash prize of Rs 58 crore for the Champions Trophy-winning squad with the players and head coach Gautam Gambhir getting Rs 3 crore each. According to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, assistant coaches and support staff will get Rs 50 lakh each, while BCCI officials will receive Rs 25 lakh each. Legendary India captain Sunil Gavaskar asked whether Gambhir will be following the example of his predecessor - Rahul Dravid - in refusing to take more amount than his support staff. The Pakistan Cricket Board's chief operating officer has blamed the ICC for the mismanagement at the final presentation ceremony of the Champions Trophy in Dubai. No Pakistan representative was called on the podium for the final ceremony in Dubai during final presentation ceremony despite the PCB CEO, Sumair Ahmed being present at the ground. Sumair said at a function in Lahore that it was the result of mismanagement on part of the ICC. “It was a result of mismanagement on part of the ICC and everyone knows who's involved in it. We did not take the matter in a positive way," he said.
