The Super League season has reached the halfway point and we’re poised for an enthralling few months. St Helens have been the best side in the competition, so far, of that there is no doubt, but the likes of Catalans Dragons, Wigan Warriors and Huddersfield Giants aren’t too far behind them.
Danny Houghton believes young hooker Denive Balmforth could have a bright future ahead of him after making his senior debut last month. Balmforth only joined the Black and Whites from Warrington Wolves in March, but after shining in the academy and reserves sides under Michael Shenton, he was given the nod to represent the first-team against Toulouse Olympique by Brett Hodgson.
Brett Hodgson has made the big decision to leave club captain Luke Gale out of his side to take on St Helens at the Totally Wicked Stadium. Gale has missed the last two games through suspension and the head coach has opted against naming him in the line-up for this evening’s clash.

Hull FC’s Joe Lovodua and winger Ryan Hall have both been nominated for the Super League player of the month award for April. The pair enjoyed hugely impressive months for their respective clubs and they have been recognised as one of six stand out performers across the competition.
The Super League recruitment window is now open and across the competition clubs will be turning their attentions to signings and re-signings. Recruitment is a year-round process and clubs will now be approaching the off-contract players they have identified as potential targets.
