The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will begin on March 23, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajeev Shukla confirmed on Sunday. All 10 franchises have already picked the squad of their liking during the mega auction, which was held in Jeddah on November 24 and 25. After the end of the auction, there were speculations about the possible date when the cash-rich league would commence. Rajeev Shukla, who attended the Special General Meeting (SGM) in Mumbai, revealed the date of IPL 2025 while speaking to reporters and said, "IPL is going to start from March 23."
Debutant Corbin Bosch became only the fifth South African bowler to take a wicket with the first ball of his Test career for the Proteas on Thursday. The right-arm quick made his Test debut for South Africa in the series opener against Pakistan in Centurion. He was introduced in the 15th over to break up Pakistan's opening partnership of Saim Ayub and skipper Shan Masood. With Masood looking resolute in his approach, Bosch's first Test delivery turned both his and South Africa's wish into reality. He pitched the ball up and caught Masood off-guard just after the drinks break.
:New Zealand made a strong start to their bid for a consolation victory in the third and final test against England at Hamilton's Seddon Park on Saturday, reaching lunch on the opening day on 93 without loss.
NZ vs ENG 3rd Test Day 1 Live Score: New Zealand eye a consolation win as they take on England in the third and final Test at the Seddon Park in Hamilton. A whitewash would be quite a humbling for New Zealand after their 3-0 win on Indian soil last month. The Kiwis, however, haven't lost a Test at Seddon Park since South Africa beat them by nine wickets in 2012. The pitch was largely under covers and the weather could play a big part through the Test, with showers forecast on day three. Both teams are already out of the WTC 2025 final race. (Live Scorecard)
New Zealand will wait until Saturday's toss to decide whether spinner Mitch Santner will be recalled to the side but Will Young will definitely be in the team to face England in the third test at Hamilton's Seddon Oval.
Opener Devon Conway will miss the third Test against England, New Zealand cricket said Monday, clearing the way for the return of unwanted batter Will Young. The out-of-touch Conway is awaiting the birth of his first child so won't join the Black Caps squad in Hamilton, where the final Test of the series begins on Saturday. England hold an unassailable 2-0 lead after winning the second Test in Wellington on Sunday by 323 runs. Conway's place in the squad will be taken by middle-order batter Mark Chapman but the more experienced Young is likely to be promoted to the starting XI.
New Zealand vs England 2nd Test, Day 2 Live Updates: New Zealand lost five wickets to be on the ropes in response to England's 280 after Harry Brook smashed a century on the first day of the second Test on Friday. The Black Caps were 86 for 5 in Wellington, with England capturing the key wicket of Kane Williamson soon before stumps, leaving Tom Blundell at the crease on seven and nightwatchman Will O'Rourke yet to score. It was a fast-moving opening day, in a similar vein to the first Test in Christchurch, which the tourists won by eight wickets in three and a half days. (Live Scorecard)
