Klaasen fires Super Giants to win over Super Kings
Durban's Super Giants have won only their second match in this year's SA20 as they defeated the Joburg Super Kings by 11 runs (DLS) in a rain-affected encounter at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Saturday.
After they were asked to bat first, the Super Giants posted 173/4 thanks to 76 off 47 balls (including three fours and six sixes) from Heinrich Klaasen.
There were other contributions from Wiaan Mulder (30*), Matthew Breetzke (23) and Kane Williamson (22) while Hardus Viljoen (2/42) and Lutho Sipamla (1/24) were the best bowlers for the home side.
In their reply, Super Kings saw their target reduced after a rain delay that saw the players off the field for around an hour. They struggled starting out, losing wickets regularly, with only Donovan Ferreira (51 off 21) and Devon Conway (21 off 23) contributing a significant score.
Ferreira almost won it for the Super Kings with a late blitz in which he hit five towering sixes, two of which were out the ground, but ultimately, despite his blitz, the Super Kings fell just short.
