Van Buuren, Miller guide Paarl Royals to SA20 win over Joburg Super Kings

Mitchell van Buuren and David Miller steered the Paarl Royals to a comfortable six-wicket victory against the Joburg Super Kings at Boland Park on Monday.

Fast bowler Hardus Viljoen ensured that Lhuan-dre Pretorius didn't kick on after a decent start and played a crucial role in stifling the hosts early on, as the 18-year-old was caught in the deep for a 14-ball 27.

Needing four runs off the final over, Miller was caught off a Lutho Sipamla no-ball and then smashed a maximum to steer Paarl Royals over the line. Miller ended unbeaten on 40 off 32 balls (hitting three fours and a six).

Earlier, after being sent to bat first, Johnny Bairstow's half-century helped the Super Kings post 146-6.

Spinner Bjorn Fortuin continued his 'claim to fame' of being effective in the first six overs when he bowled Devon Conway for seven and then got captain Faf du Plessis to edge to short third-man for 18.
