Clinical Joburg Super Kings dominate at Wanderers with bonus-point win over Sunrisers
Hardus Viljoen, Lutho Sipamla and Devon Conway helped Joburg Super Kings stay in the race for the SA20 playoffs with a bonus-point victory over title holders Sunrisers Eastern Cape at the Wanderers on Sunday.
The Super Kings snapped Sunrisers' fourth-match winning streak as JSK, who remain in fourth position, cruised to a nine-wicket victory.
Chasing 118 runs to win, New Zealander Conway's unbeaten 76 steered JSK to a bonus-point victory as they chased the target with 36 balls to spare.
Conway and captain Faf du Plessis got the hosts off to a flier with a 34-run stand before Beyers Swanepoel got the top edge of Du Plessis' bat, who departed for 15.
With a crucial bonus-point on offer, Joburg opted for a different approach and raced to their target in quick time as Conway and Wihan Lubbe (25*) got the hosts over the line with their unbeaten 84-run second-wicket stand.
Conway set the tone as he smashed 11 fours and three sixes for an unbeaten 76 off 56 balls to ensure JSK's got over the line in the 14th over.
