The Championship side are looking to close a deal for the 24-year old that could be worth up to £1.5 million ahead of the new season starting later this month.

Here we ask our FLW writers their verdict on if he would be a good addition to Jon Dahl Tomasson’s squad…  This would be a sensational piece of business for Rovers, and possibly even an upgrade on the departed Ryan Nyambe.

Brittain is one of a few players who can hold their head up after a terrible 2021/22 campaign for Barnsley, and the 24-year-old is definitely capable of playing at a higher level than League One this season.

Brittain is very comfortable on the ball, versatile and can take on a small portion of the creative burden at Ewood Park. Joe Rankin-Costello has his best years ahead of him, but may not be ready to step into the right wing back or right back berth as first choice, Brittain’s arrival would solve that dilemma.
