Woman banned from driving after tragic pensioner hit while crossing the road

A woman has been banned from driving after causing the death of a 75-year-old pedestrian. Patricia Dermody was hit by a car driven by Julie Parkin, from Saddleworth.

Court documents said that 58-year-old Parkin caused the Ms Dermody's death by driving a Mercedes CLK 'without due care and attention' on December 18, 2021.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Parkin had been stopped at a red traffic light on Wellington Road in Ashton, Tameside.

She pulled off after the lights changed, but hit Ms Dermody as she was still crossing the road, the CPS said. Ms Dermody sadly died 10 days later, on December 28, 2021. Try MEN Premium now for FREE...
