Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to win the race to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes this summer, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook. It has been a slow transfer window for Bruno Lage at Molineux but momentum appears to be gathering ahead of the September 1 deadline.
The Guardian reported on Monday night that the West Midlands side had agreed a £38 million fee with Sporting for the signing of Nunes this summer.
If the transfer is completed, it would become a new club-record deal for Wolves, surpassing the £35 million spent on Fabio Silva a year ago.
Liverpool and Manchester City have had the attacking midfielder on their radars this summer but it seems Wolves are set to win the race, although personal terms are yet to be agreed.
