Wigan MP Lisa Nandy has issued a statement after a horrific bus station stabbing on Thursday afternoon (July 18). A 19-year-old man was left injured in the violent attack, which was also filmed and posted on social media.
Two men, aged 19 and 30, have since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They remain in custody to be questioned.
Videos appeared to show the 19-year-old victim lying defenceless on the floor as onlookers watch on in horror. A figure is seen shouting and towering over the victim, grabbing him with one hand and raising a knife in the other, before he launched a number of swipes at him. She wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Following the very serious incident that took place in the town centre earlier today, I have been in touch with Greater Manchester Police.
