Manchester United supporters have urged Erik ten Hag to bring another Ajax star across to Old Trafford with Dusan Tadic now available on a free transfer.
Ajax confirmed the departure of their captain late on Friday night, following the termination of his contract. Reports in the Netherlands suggested the 34-year-old was unhappy with the quality at the club and held a meeting with director Sven Mislintat to discuss exiting his deal a year early.
The Serbian international left Southampton for Ajax in 2018, a move sanctioned by then-manager of the Dutch club Erik ten Hag.
