Manchester United agreed to send Dan Gore to Port Vale until the end of the season because of how they play and how they support young players, according to their sporting director.

Last week, the Manchester Evening News revealed Gore was set to join Port Vale on loan and the midfielder's switch was made official on Tuesday night.

Championship side Preston and League One clubs Bolton, Blackpool, Fleetwood and Shrewsbury all showed an interest in Gore, but Port Vale won the race for his signature.
