Manchester United midfielder's two-month absence explained ahead of the 2024/25 season

Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore is yet to return to training after a freak shoulder injury.

Gore was one of a handful of youngsters to be included in last summer's pre-season tour squad and was hopeful of impressing Erik ten Hag ahead of the new campaign.

However, he was denied the opportunity to travel to the United States this summer after dislocating his shoulder during a personal training session. Gore required surgery at the beginning of June and a return to action in the early weeks of 2024/25 was identified as his target.

The new season is just around the corner, but it's understood the 19-year-old is yet to return to training at Carrington as he continues his recovery from the freak injury.

The transfer window for Premier League clubs shuts on August 30 and it looks increasingly likely that Gore will not get the chance to leave United on a season-long loan.

For Gore to leave on loan this summer, he would need to return to training in the next two weeks and join a club on loan without having the benefit of a pre-season for fitness.

United will decide Gore's next step with his long-term development in mind and he may be forced to wait until the January transfer window to leave on loan again.

Gore spent the last six months of last season on loan with Port Vale, but disaster struck after just one appearance when he sustained an injury, which meant he didn't play again.

Sky has slashed the price of its Sky Sports, Sky Stream, Sky TV and Netflix bundle in an unbeatable new deal that saves £216 and includes 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
