Five Sheffield Wednesday players sat-out their pre-season friendly against Bournemouth. Speaking after their 2-1 loss to the Cherries in Portugal, Darren Moore revealed Jack Hunt, Marvin Johnson, Akin Famewo and Michael Smith were left out due to "tightness" while summer signing Will Vaulks has yet to fully recover from a quad injury.

But Moore expects Hunt, Johnson, Famewo and Smith to be involved in their next warm-up fixture against Rayo Vallecano next week. "We have not picked up knocks or anything but a few of the boys had a little tightness," he said. "Because we picked that up, I left Jack Hunt, Marvin, Akin and Michael Smith out for tonight. "I just didn't want to take the risk.

All of them were just a bit of tightness so I just said 'No chance', taking that risk. All of them should be fine for next week." Wednesday suffered their first defeat of pre-season, losing 2-1 to Premier League Bournemouth in the Algarve.

Goals either of half-time from Lewis Cook and Dominic Solanke gave the Cherries win. A stunning solo strike from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru reduced the deficit in the closing stages.
