Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that he wished Manchester United centre-back Lisandro Martinez 'good luck' for the forthcoming season after Saturday's friendly in New Jersey.

United made a winning start to their pre-season tour of the United States with a 2-0 triumph over their Premier League counterparts.

First-half goals from Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho sealed a relatively comfortable victory for Erik ten Hag's side. The Dutchman named a starting line-up that was slightly stronger than the ones that had started against Leeds United and Lyon prior to the tour, welcoming some of the club's international contingent back into the fold.

Raphael Varane and Martinez, for the third game running, started in the heart of the defence. The Argentina international had been sidelined since April because of a season-ending injury and he has shown no signs of suffering any setbacks during this pre-season campaign so far.
