Manchester United have now made three signings this summer – but transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that they don’t plan on stopping there and Frenkie de Jong is the next target. Left-back Tyrell Malacia became United’s first signing of the Erik ten Hag era after they agreed to pay Feyenoord an initial £13million.

Former Tottenham and Brentford midfielder Christian Eriksen then arrived on a free transfer and signed a three-year contract at Old Trafford.

United have now confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Lisandro Martinez. The defender will cost an initial £49million, and the move is subject to a medical being finalised and a UK visa being granted.

Ten Hag is still looking to bolster his squad further ahead of the 2022-23 season and Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong is still their top target. “An important week is coming to understand more on the Frenkie de Jong situation,” Romano said on his YouTube channel. “As of now, I’m told it’s still the same.
