Former India coach Ravi Shastri - now once again a reputed commentator - has posted a picture on social media with a man whom he described as the "heartbeat of the Indian cricket team". However, the man with him isn't a star cricketer like Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma, or even the coach Gautam Gambhir. In fact, it is a less familiar name, in the form of Team India's underrated throwdown specialist, Raghuvendra Dwivedi - more fondly recognized as 'Raghu' by players, coaches and fans of the team.
Team India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate couldn't control his laughter after Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja were seen imitating pacer Jasprit Bumrah's bowling action in front of him. The incident took place after India captain Rohit Sharma opted to bowl in the second Test against Bangladesh on Friday. Before the start of the play, Ten Doeschate, the former Netherlands batter, had joined the players for the pre-match warm-up routine. However, he was reduced to splits after seeing Kohli and Jadeja's antics.
India captain Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first after the toss for the second Test against Bangladesh was delayed for an hour due to a wet outfield. With overcast conditions on offer, India named an unchanged side with three pacers getting the nod. Bangladesh, on the other hand, made two changes to the team for the match, which could be former skipper Shakib Al Hasan's last outing in the format. Pacer Khaled Ahmed and left-arm spinner Taijul Islam replaced seamers Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana, following the 280-run loss in the series-opener in Chennai last week.
Riding on a sensational century in his Test comeback, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant on Wednesday re-entered the ICC rankings at an impressive sixth position but India skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli slipped in a major shake-up in standings. Pant (731), who smashed a stunning century in the opening game of the two-Test series against Bangladesh in Chennai, was placed sixth, while opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (751), moved up to fifth thanks to a half-century in the first innings of the Test match.
Team India did win the first Test against Bangladesh by Chepauk comfortably, securing a 280-run triumph, but the result doesn't hide away issues that still remain. Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Ravindra Jadeja were among the top performers in the series opener but the performance of stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma left much to desire. Neither Virat nor Rohit succeeded in registering a big score in the two innings, prompting suggestions that they shouldn't have missed the Duleep Trophy.
India registered a dominating 280-run win over Bangladesh in  the first Test of a two-match series in Chennai. However, Virat Kohli's performance in both the innings was not up to the mark. He got out to Hasan Mahmud for 6 in the first innings while he fell to Mehidy hasan Miraz for 17 in the second innings. After the two-Test series against Bangladesh, India will play New Zealand at home for a three-Test series starting on October 16.
