Former India coach Ravi Shastri - now once again a reputed commentator - has posted a picture on social media with a man whom he described as the "heartbeat of the Indian cricket team".

However, the man with him isn't a star cricketer like Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma, or even the coach Gautam Gambhir. In fact, it is a less familiar name, in the form of Team India's underrated throwdown specialist, Raghuvendra Dwivedi - more fondly recognized as 'Raghu' by players, coaches and fans of the team. "Always good to see the Man Friday and the heartbeat of the Indian Cricket team - Raghu," Shastri posted on X, before the start of India's second Test against Bangladesh at Kanpur.

Raghavendra Dwivedi has been a part of Team India's set up since 2011, when he joined following on from a stint at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Broadcasters have already started programs around the series, pitting Rohit Sharma's men against Pat Cummins' army. Since India's usual number three Shubman Gill had to sit out of this match with a stiff neck, Virat Kohli walked out in to bat in that position after eight years. However, he perised for a nine-ball duck. After stumps on Day 2, India captain Rohit Sharma said it was Kohli's decision to bat in that position. "The experienced players are the ones who have to take that extra responsibility. It is a good sign. This time, it was Virat. He was the one who was ready to do that. We asked him whether he can bat at number three," Rohit revealed.
With the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction approaching, India captain Rohit Sharma's future at Mumbai Indians (MI) remains up in the air. Rohit was removed as captain by MI last season, with the franchise handing over the leadership duties to Hardik Pandya, who was traded from Gujarat Titans (GT). All 10 IPL teams can retain up to six players ahead of the auction. However, there is no clarity whether MI will retain Rohit, or will the six-time IPL winner enter the auction for the first time in 13 years.

Top-order batter Rachin Ravindra said on Monday that nullifying the twin threat posed by senior spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will be crucial to New Zealand's success in the three-match series against India. Ashwin and Jadeja together have grabbed over 800 Test wickets, and are among the most experienced bowling pairs in world cricket at present. "They've got consistent bowlers who bowl in an area for a long period of time. I mean, you see the two spinners who play consistently, Ashwin and Jadeja, they're two very accomplished bowlers. You know, they can bat too, which makes it a little bit hard,” Ravindra told reporters on Monday.
