Three-time champion Tiger Woods will miss the 2023 Open Championship due to ankle surgery recovery

Tiger Woods will not compete at the Open Championship in Liverpool next month after he failed to recover from ankle surgery in time.

Woods underwent surgery in April which had led to speculation that he would not take part in the tournament at Royal Liverpool.

Woods has serial difficulties with his right leg, ankle and foot, and in February 2021 a severe car crash led to suggestions that he was lucky not to lose his leg.
