Three-time champion Tiger Woods will miss the 2023 Open Championship due to ankle surgery recovery

Tiger Woods will not compete at the Open Championship in Liverpool next month after he failed to recover from ankle surgery in time. Woods underwent surgery in April which had led to speculation that he would not take part in the tournament at Royal Liverpool. Ad Woods has won the tournament three times before, including once in Hoylake.

He has been fit enough to compete at the Masters, PGA Championship and Open in 2022 but has played just nine official rounds after making the cut at the first two.
