The message Craig Gordon sent Steve Clarke after emotional Scotland sign-off as boss hails keeper

Steve Clarke revealed Craig Gordon's Scotland sign off was never a farewell – it was a 'I'll see you soon.' The Hearts keeper was cut from the squad for Euro 2024 and made what had appeared to be his final appearance for his country off the bench in the friendly with Finland.

The 41-year-old put out an emotional statement after that one and all signs pointed to the end of a 20-year international career that yielded 75 caps.

But that's now a so-far total as Gordon, still No.1 at Hearts ahead of Zander Clark, was recalled to the squad for the upcoming Nations League games with Croatia and Portugal.

He joins Angus Gunn and Dundee's Jon McCracken in the squad and Clarke said it's a promise fulfilled from the dependable veteran.
