Former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been appointed as the new boss of Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia. The Liverpool icon has sealed a new job in the Middle East after he left Aston Villa in 2022 following a poor run of form in the Premier League.
Gerrard, who left Rangers to join the Villa Park outfit, took up his first full managerial post in Glasgow in 2018 and had been linked with the Poland national team and vacancies with Leeds United and Leicester City in recent weeks.
But the Champions League winner joins the ever-growing Saudi league as Ettifaq's new boss. And the mega-bucks club have announced the 43-year-old as their new head coach after responding to rumours circulating over his future in recent weeks.
Gerrard said the offer put to him wasn't up to scratch, but now the former England international has been confirmed as the new boss.
