Steven Gerrard has a week to save his Aston Villa job, according to a report. The former Rangers boss has been in the Villa Park hotseat for just under a year, leaving Ibrox last November following an historic 55th title win that ended Celtic’s dreams of clinching an unprecedented tenth Scottish Premiership title in a row.

But now the Telegraph reports he has just seven days to convince the club’s owners that he’s still the man to lead them after a poor start to the 2022/23 season.

The Villains are unbeaten in their last four matches, but have won only one of them. The narrow victory away at Southampton was just their second league success of the season after beating Everton 2-1 in the second week of the campaign.

They sit just three points above the relegation zone after drawing with ten-man Leeds and Nottingham Forest ahead of taking on Chelsea at home this Sunday.
