Steven Gerrard’s new club Al-Ettifaq sent a message to Rangers fans as the former Ibrox boss went head to head with another world legend who spent time in Govan.

The ex England captain took charge of the Saudi Pro League outfit in a pre season friendly against Abu Dhabi outfit Al Jazira Club.

And the UAE Pro League side are managed by none other than Frank De Boer, who had a short stint at Rangers in 2004 alongside twin brother Ronald when Alex McLeish sighed him from Galatasaray.

Gerrard and De Boer were deep in conversation before the game and Al-Ettifaq tagged the snap with the message “One for the Rangers fans”.
