Members of the Lagos State Boxing team that won three gold, five silver and two bronze medals at the just concluded National Sports Festival, which held in Asaba, Delta State.As the 21st National Sports Festival tagged “Delta 2022” ended yesterday, members of the Main Organising Committee (MOC), Directors of Sports from the 36 States of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja as well as other officials met to appraise the successes and challenges experienced during the festival.The interactive session, which took place yesterday, at the Football House, Asaba, was the last to be held by officials for the competition.
The Secretary, MOC and Director, National Sports Festival and Para Sports Department of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Peter Nelson, stated that the meeting was routine, and usually held to review challenges, strengths and day-to-day activities in connection with the games and welfare of athletes, as well as officials in all the sporting venues.He added that the festival like many other sporting events worldwide had its challenges, but quick and prompt intervention of the host state saw such challenges resolved without much delay.
He added that the hosting of this year’s edition was one of the best in recent times and the state government deserves commendation from all sports loving Nigerians, especially looking at the short time that it had to prepare for the games.Also speaking, The Director-General, Delta State Sports Commission, Chris Anazia, thanked The Minister Of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, management staff of the Sports Ministry and the Presidency in particular, for the opportunity given to the state to host the games.He called on the
