Southampton now considering bid for £35m star at St Mary's

Southampton might be preparing to launch another bid for PSV star Cody Gakpo, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth. Saints are the latest Premier League club to register their interest in the services and Sheth reckons they’re lining up a second offer for the winger.

According to the Telegraph, Southampton saw their opening offer of £21.4m rejected for the 23-year-old, who’s been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United this window.

But the report claims that Antony’s arrival at Old Trafford has all-but ended their interest in Gakpo, which should improve Saints’ chances of landing a shock deal to bring him to St Mary’s.

Southampton’s bid fell short of PSV’s £38.4m asking price, however, although the Dutch giants are prepared to sell their talisman, who scored once and assisted twice in a 60 minute cameo at Excelsior on Sunday.
