Shamrock Rovers will face Danish champions FC Copenhagen if they reach the second qualifying round of the Champions League. On Tuesday, Stephen Bradley's side discovered their first qualifying round fate, receiving a favourable draw which will see them meet the winners of the preliminary round in a two-legged tie on 11/12 July and 18/19 July. The four preliminary round sides vying for the right to face the Hoops are Atletic Club d'Escaldes from Andorra, Podgorica of Montenegro, Tre Penne from San Marino and Icelandic side Breidablik. The draw for the second round of the qualifiers was made on Wednesday afternoon and pitted Copenhagen against the side that emerges from Shamrock Rovers' first-round tie.The Danish side reached the group stages of the Champions League last season and were unbeaten at home, as they managed to earn draws against eventual champions Manchester City, Europa League winners Sevilla and Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund. The second qualifying round ties are scheduled to take place on 25/26 July and 1/2 August.Victory in the first qualifying round would secure Shamrock Rovers a Europa Conference League play-off at worst.Following a subsequent draw made for Europe's third tier competition on Tuesday, should they lose their Champions League first qualifying round tie, the reigning League of Ireland champions will face Faroe Islands' KÍ Klaksvik or Hungarian record champions Ferencváros in the second qualifying round of the Conference League.Meanwhile, in the same competition, St Patrick's Athletic will face Northern Ireland's Glentoran or Malta's Gzira United if they beat F91 Diddeleng of Luxembourg in the first round, while Dundalk would meet Iceland's KA Akureyri or Welsh side Connah's Quay Nomads
